Ripley house fire

Firefighters from Alfreton and Ripley were called to a house fire in Ripley in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The alarm was raised at 0.45am at a house on Fletcher Street where a kitchen was well alight.

A family fled their home after they were awoken by a smoke alarm. An ambulance was called, but there were no reports of casualties.

Fire crews in breathing apparatus fought the flames and left the scene at 1.25am.
