YOUNGSTERS from a Heanor infants’ school not only staged a belated royal wedding celebration party , they planned the entire event too.
Children from Langley Infants’ School, in Laceyfields Road, had a hugely successful day, due in part to the party planning group made up of youngsters there. They organised the day-long event, including activities, and even went out and bought the food for the special day.
Many of the girls came dressed as princesses and brides and lots of the boys had their faces painted with Union Flag designs.
Headteacher Jackie Smith said: “The whole school took part. The children organised it themselves. There was a party-planning team of children. They raised money for it doing a whole school readathon. They planned the whole party, brought the food in and the activities.
“They had a fabulous time. The parents came last thing and sang some songs with us.”
