Red light fear at swingers’ club

Fears an industrial estate could turn into a red light district if a planning application for a swingers’ club in Heanor gets the go-ahead are among concerns raised by residents.

Amber Valley Borough Council’s planning board will decide if a bid to change the use of a former gym on Heanor Gate Road into a private members club should get the go ahead on Monday November 19.

Officers are recommending the application for approval and have advised the board that “issues regarding, sexuality, morality and humanity, are not material planning considerations in consideration of the proposed use.”

The council has received nine letters of objection and two petitions with around 280 signatures against the club. Pollice have confirmed the club is doing nothing illegal and planning officers say it does not breach planning regulations. See this week’s RHNews for more.
