Rats make clever pets

THE STARS of this week’s Rescue Me are two friendly pets by the name of Eugene and Rasputin.

They are two tame adult male rats, currently residing at RSPCA Derby, who would ideally need to be rehomed together.

Communities manager at the animal shelter Karen Carter, said they are tame and fine to pick up and handle. She said: “Rats become very attached to their owners, make playful, sensitive pets, and can be taught to come by name and learn a variety of tricks. They need at least an hour’s playtime outside their cage every day.”

To arrange to see Eugene and Rasputin call the Derby RSPCA centre on 01332 344620.
