A LOSCOE couple claim their prize for putting their recycling out as part of a new incentive by Derbyshire County Council.
Carl and Judith Ratcliffe, from Loscoe Grange, Loscoe, were the first household to be awarded a £50 Love2shop voucher, which they can spend in several high street stores.
Winners of the scheme will be selected at random throughout the six-month campaign from households who present their recycling at the kerbside on collection day. There will be 12 winners allocated to each district council area.
It is believed a one per cent increase in recycling could save the cash-strapped council £72,000 a year in disposal costs.
Cabinet member for technology and recycling, John Allsop, said: “We hope this incentive scheme will boost recycling in Derbyshire.”
