THE SALVATION Army held a plant fair in Somercotes on Saturday to raise funds for security improvements to their hall following a spate of break-ins.
The fair was held at the Corps Hall on Sleetmoor Lane and ran from 10am to noon.
Funds raised will be used to help pay towards the £3,000 bill of repairs and security improvements following break-ins to the Corps Hall.
Territorial envoy Terry Carpenter said: “It went fantastic. We raised nearly £500. We had a couple of burglaries at the beginning of the year.
“We spent £32,000 getting the hall refurbished. They caused a lot of damage and stole food parcels.
“We are getting more and more calls for food parcels. We’re happy to help people.”
