AROUND 50 townsfolk turned out to Ripley Town Council’s inaugural Neighbourhood Plan meeting.
The parish authority has set aside £20,000 from its yearly budget to draw up it’s own Neighbourhood Plan, setting out a development vision for the area.
At the Ripley Town hall meeting last Tuesday night, a 20 member steering group was established to drive the plans forward. The Neighbourhood Plan will need to broadly conform with Amber Valley Borough Council’s Local Plan.
Leader of the town council, Cllr Steve Freeborn was pleased with the first meeting. He said: “Considering the conditions outside it was a great turn out and we had a very broad mix of people attend.”
Any one from the business or commercial sector interested in becoming part of the steering group is being welcomed by the town council. Contact the clerk on 01773 832211 for more information.
