In true British style a bit of rain did not put off the thousands of Ambergate carnival goers on Saturday.
Two Big Bens made an appearance as did Geri Halliwell in her iconic Union Jack dress, the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland and Her Majesty abandoned the corgis to join in with the fun.
Spectator Jo Szabo said: “Brilliant prosession, well done guys.”
A tiny Del Boy was doing wheeling and dealing and St George was there waiting to slay any passing dragons.
The rain did impact on the weekend’s events as vehicles could not get on to the recreation field after the procession.
A carnival organiser said: “Huge thanks to everyone who came, had fun and supported the carnival.
“We had rain, we had mud, we couldn’t have everything we wanted but we made it work thanks to a lot of positivity and some great help.”
Since the carnival a petition has been started to address the state of Ambergate Rec in regards to its flooding and has more than 200 signature.
Paul Lobley who started the campaign said: “Even during the summer Ambergate recreation ground is often flooded.
“This leaves a large pond of rancid foul water which covers the whole of the centre of the recreation ground, making the use of the recreation ground especially dangerous.”
