PENSIONERS have knitted blankets to donate to a local dog rescue centre.

Folks at Wellington Court Care Home in Eastwood have spent three months knitting blankets to donate to Babbington Rescue Centre in Awsworth.

‘Knit and natter’ sessions have been running at the home for several months and manager Barbara Marriott says the ladies love it.

“They have coffee and cakes and they love it,” she said.

“Although I think often there’s more nattering than knitting!

“We’ve donated four blankets to Babbington so far, but we’ve got tons more to sew up from all the knitted squares we’ve made. We’ll have to knuckle down and get them sewn up now.”

The group is now working towards making tiny hats for premature babies at hospitals in Nottingham.
