Record crowds and great weather combined to produce a triumphant return to form for Alfreton’s 12th Party in the Park event at the weekend.

Organiser Liam Connell declared this year’s party on Sunday as ‘brilliant’, saying it was the ‘best ever’ after last year’s disappointment when the show was cancelled following bad weather.

The centrepiece was a demonstration of spectacular stuntwork from the Mark Stannage stunt team in the main arena.

Liam said: “The weather was very good - it was just right. It warmed up in the afternoon and the sun came out.

“The car park has never been so full. It was the best ever attendance - it was really jam packed.

“It was the smoothest it’s ever gone - but then again we had everything in place from last year when we had to call it off.

“The day went down perfectly - there was no trouble at all.”
