Pallet truck fire started by battery

Alfreton firefighters put out a small pallet truck that was on fire in South Normanton in the early hours of Friday morning.

The alarm was raised at 1.40am on Berristowe Lane where the crew used CO2 extinguishers to put out the fire that had started with the battery and a hose reel jet on the vehicle itself.

They left the scene at 2.10pm.

Fire crews from Alfreton and Ripley were called out at 6.30am on the same day to a fuseboard that was smouldering in a building in Upper Hartshay in Heage.

The crews isolated the power and waited for electrical engineers to tackle the fuseboard.
