The Ripley and Heanor News’ Child of the Year competition is to be extended to take in extra photoshoot days.

Our photographers will be stationed at the Co-op store on Derby Road, on Friday, June 8, as well as Saturday, June 9.

It is totally free to enter, so feel free to bring your child or children down on either day between 10am and 4pm.

The competition will be spilt into three categories: zero to 12 months, 13 to 24 months and 25 to 36 months, and a winner will be picked from each group.

Each winner will receive a large canvas print of their child as a prize. A special supplement with all our 2012 entries will feature in the paper in the coming weeks.

The competition has been an annual favourite of readers for years.

Ripley editor Julie Crouch said : “We have had a great response to our child of the year competition so far, but we wanted to be sure as many people as possible get the chance to see their young ones in the paper – and stand a chance of winning.

“A big thanks to our hosts at the Co-op for allowing us to stage another two days at the Derby Road store.”

The Co-op’s other Ripley store, on Maple Avenue, has just undergone a refurbishment with new fixtures, fittings and a new product line introduced.

Manager Christian Bradley, said: “This has been a very exciting project for us as the store needed updating.”
