Order works says council

A PARISH council says a new Designated Public Place Order (DPPO) is working well in the village.

Codnor Parish Council introduced the scheme, which gives police legal powers to confiscate alcohol and fine anyone found drinking or acting inappropriately in designated public places up to £500. The council says large quantities of alcohol have been seized from the Alfreton Road recreation ground as a result.

Leader of the parish council Cllr Chris Emmas-Williams said: “We have now started to see a significant decrease since the implementation of the order and work by our police, which is to be welcomed by all residents.”
