BRINSLEY animal sanctuary is holding an open day on Easter Bank Holiday Monday to help raise money for its new wildlife hospital.

Owners of the sanctuary turned their utility room into a hospital unit so they could carry out minor treatments themselves and save on vets bills.

The building has been converted, but owners Jon Beresford and Beth Hewis need more funds to kit it out and get it up and running.

The sanctuary in Hobsic Close will be open to the public from 11am until 4pm on April 9.

There will be cakes, stalls and games and the opportunity to see all of the animals at the centre, which is usually closed to the public.

Jon and Beth take in pets, wildlife, farm animals and birds.

They have to raise £30,000 a year to stay afloat.
