YOUNgsters have enjoyed a day of dressing up as characters from a classic childrens’ novel.

The children at Treetops Nursery, based in Lilybank House, Matlock, dressed up as pirates and fairies as part of a Peter Pan themed open day.

Parents and children were invited to the open day in a bid to showcase the staff and activities on offer at the nursery.

Sarah Knowles acting manager at the nursery said: “We had lots of things going on like face painting, walking the plank, making Indian headbands and pirate telescopes.”

Another Peter Pan-inspired activity the youngsters had fun taking part in was ‘pin the patch on the pirate’.

Parents and children enjoyed pirate punch, as well as pizza clocks and Tinkerbell star biscuits in the nursery’s pirates’ cabin .

Sarah said: “All the staff dressed up and some of the children who came dressed up to.

“The staff really enjoyed it – letting their hair down and talking to parents.

“The day was lovely and everyone had a fantastic time.”
