Novelist to make appearance at Ripley store

A POPULAR crime author is due to attend a book signing in Ripley on Saturday, October 29.

Sleuth expert Stephen Booth, best known for creating the Cooper and Fry detective Duo, is due to sign copies of all his works and to chat with members of the public about his writing at the Book Boutique on Church Street in the town.

Thrilled owner of the shop, Caroline Evans, 27, from Ripley Road, Sawmills, said she managed to convince bestselling author to the shop by way of social networking site Twitter.

She said: “I sent him a message to say I hope you don’t think I’m being cheeky, but would you mind coming to sign some books at the shop?

“He said he was more than happy to support local businesses.”

Stephen Booth’s novel Black Dog, was named by the London Evening Standard as one of the six best crime novels of the year. It also won awards in the USA for best British crime novel.

He is due to attend the shop for the signing session on October 29 at 11.30am.
