Law firm Ellis-Fermor & Negus, which has branches in Ripley and Belper, has appointed Jonathan Ho as a solicitor.

Jonathan is originally from Hong Kong and came to England as a child, undertaking his primary education at Fernwood infant and junior schools in Wollaton before the family moved on.

He graduated with a law degree from the University of Nottingham before completing his legal practice course at Nottingham Law School. He then trained at a leading firm in Hull, where he gained experience in a range of legal areas, including commercial and residential property, business and share acquisitions and litigation.

As a newly qualified solicitor, he will be working on a wide range of matters in Ellis-Fermor & Negus’s commercial and conveyancing departments.

Jonathan, who spent a gap year teaching English in China, speaks fluent Cantonese and also Mandarin.

Simon Hale, head of the commercial department at Ellis-Fermor & Negus, welcoming Jonathan, said: “Jonathan’s experience and skills especially his language skills will be a real asset especially to our clients who come from and trade with the Far East.

“He will also be able to translate and assist with clients at our offices in Long Eaton, Ripley and Belper who speak a version of Chinese as their first language.

“Jonathan is heavily involved with the Chinese Christian community across the UK, which is an area of particular interest to us as we represent a large number of faith-based charities.”

Outside of work, 26-year-old Jonathan enjoys hill-walking, visiting National Trust properties and going to the theatre.
