Two new food stores have opened in Derbyshire - and two more have been revamped - as part of a major £1,600,000 investment by Central England Co-operative.

The new shops opened on Main Street in Horsley Woodhouse and on Inkersall Green Road, Inkersall.

The ribbon is cut following a major revamp of the store on Alfreton Road, Little Eaton.

On the same day the ribbon was cut following major revamps of stores on Grangewood Road, Chesterfield, and Alfreton Road, Little Eaton, which has seen the installation of the latest in pioneering energy efficient refrigeration technologies to minimise environmental impact, and LED lighting.

Horsley Woodhouse Central England Co-operative Store Manager Paul Robinson said: “The store looks fantastic and already customers have been making many positive comments about how it looks and the different products and services now available.”

To mark the opening of the new stores, hundreds of customers queued outside to take part in a special golden ticket giveaway and walked away with everything from a 50” TV and a coffee machine to Co-operative gift vouchers and Irresistible Fairtrade chocolate bars. Dean Marshall scooped a television after unwrapping his golden ticket at Horsley Woodhouse.

Alfreton Road Co-operative Store Manager Sue Johnson said: “All of us here are proud to be part of such a great community in Little Eaton and are looking forward to welcoming customers, new and old.”

All four stores will open from 7am to 10pm every day, offering fresh and local fruit and vegetables, an in-store bakery, chilled beers and wines, fresh and frozen products, Irresistible product ranges, Bake and Bite and food to go.

They also offer Paypoint, Collect Plus, foreign currency, a free car park and a free cash machine.
