New litter bins have been placed along the Greenway in Ripley to help keep the green stretch clean.
Here Ripley mayor Cllr Steve Daley stands by one of the 11 new rubbish containers, which cost the authority a total of £3,000 to buy and install.
A spokesperson for the council said: “The Town Council will empty the bins and litter pick the area making this special place of benefit for the, already, many users and encourage new users too.”
The move comes after years of littering problems along the Greenway. In 2010 leader of the council Cllr Steve Freeborn called for new bins to be installed along the route, as the area had become a hot spot for litter dumping - particularly under bridges, he said.
