MORTIMER the cat is our Rescue Me pet looking for a new loving home this week.
He was taken to the RSPCA animal shelter in Derby in by an inspector with his brother and the pair were named Mortimer and Reeves after comic duo Bob Mortimer and Vic Reeves.
They have been at the shelter in Abbey Street for two months now.
Staff say the long time waiting for a new owner is not unusual for black cats, which puzzlingly, they often struggle to rehomed.
Mortimer is semi-long haired so will need some grooming.
He has plenty of character thought Karen Carter, communities manager at the centre said: “He likes to put his front paws on your chest for affection and nuzzles into your neck. When you take his food bowl away from him he gently puts his paw on your hand or on the bowl to stop you. He will make a lovely family pet. It would be nice if he was rehomed with his brother Reeves, but it’s not essential.”
