A GROUP of youngsters raised £1,173 for St Luke’s Church in Loscoe on Saturday, January 15. The church had most of its copper piping stolen in September, leaving it without any running hot water or heating.
On Saturday, youngsters from the 3rd Loscoe Brownies, the First Loscoe Scout Group and the High Ridge Duke of Edinburgh Award Group held a bag packing day at Asda, Langley Mill, to raise funds for the church’s repairs.
Group scout leader John Smith from Elmsfield Avenue, Heanor, said: “It was a phenomenal achievement. We were hoping for six or seven hundred but to raise over £1,000 was fantastic.” For more information about the groups contact email@example.com.
