A meeting to discuss a bid to build nearly 150 homes on land off Eachwell Lane in Alfreton is set for Tuesday April 23.
Outline planning permission is sought for up to 149 dwellings, public open space and wildlife areas in a proposed development called Damstead Park by Derby-based Planning Design Practice Ltd.
The meeting will be held at 7pm in Room 1, Alfreton House, High Street, Alfreton. If you wish to speak at the meeting, please register your interest by calling 01773 520032 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org by noon Thursday, April 18.
Campaigners say Amber Valley Borough Council’s Strategic Land Availability Assessment’s preferred site in the Alfreton area is the Outseats Farm site “where outline planning permission has now been granted for about 500 houses”.
They believe the move will create “urban sprawl” and remove the existing green areas between the Alfreton and Swanwick. This would spoil the view, destroy natural habitats for wildlife, create traffic and potential flooding problems.
They add that the building work would cast a blight on the existing houses on Wingfield Road and on the Green Gables Cheshire Home.
