Langley Mill’s festive decorations got a £2,000 boost from its McDonald’s store after management presented a £2,000 cheque to the parish council to add to its Christmas lights fund this year.

Franchisee for the Station Road eatery Ken Hair says the donation is a thank you to the community for its support. He said: “It’s been a great first year, especially as the economy in general has been so fragile. This wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of all my staff, and the support of the community.

Chairman of Langley Mill and Aldercar parish Council, Mick Fowkes, said: “This is a very welcome boost from McDonald’s, which will add to the redevelopment of Langley Mill. This money will help to light up the four main roads into Langley.”

Amber Valley MP Nigel Mills said the McDonald’s outlet, which employs 86, has done a great job of improving the gateway to Langley Mill.
