The Ripley Town Council Mayor joined in the fun at The Ripley Academy’s open evening.
Councillor Roland Emmas Williams had his photo taken with students, Sophie Matharu and Shannon Maxted, both 14, in the photography studio, set up to showcase the photography course at the academy.
More than 100 students from Year 7 and the academy’s new prefects helped out on the night, giving prospective parents guided tours, and talking to visitors.
The modern foreign languages department also ran a tapas bar and Design and Technology staff showed off computer systems used to design and manufacture products.
Chris Endacott, assistant principal at the academy, said the open evening had been a great success.
He said: “It was lovely to see so many of our students giving up their time to show off their academy.”
