A group of youngsters have taken a leaf out of the book of veteran musician Bob Geldof by recording a charity Christmas single to raise cash for the care of premature babies.

Pupils from the Starstruck Academy, in Marehay penned their charity song ‘Counting Down the Days’, and went down to a studio to record the tune on Saturday, November 22.

Academy manager Debbie Hinsley said the youngsters really enjoyed getting creative for charity.

She said: “The children really enjoyed the whole process from writing the song to performing it in the studio.

“The money raised from the song will go to the neonatal intensive care unit at Nottingham City Hospital.”

The song will be available to download from iTunes mid-December, Debbie said.
