CHARITY runner Ian Baxter sports the gear he will be wearing for the Paris marathon on April 10.

The 39-year-old from Church Street, Waingroves will be taking on the gruelling 26-mile course around the French capital to raise money for the children’s charity, Barnardo’s. Ian was adopted by a foster parent when he was three months old through the charity, which operates an independent adoption agency. He plans to raise money for Barnardo’s as a way of saying thank you.

He said: “I turn 40 this year so I’m basically trying to do it while I still can.”

Now a civil servant with two daughters, Ian hopes to raise £1,500 and already has £290.

He is in training to complete the course in under four hours.
