Fire crews from Chesterfield and Alfreton were called to a two-vehicle collision on the M1 on Bank Holiday Monday.
The alarm was raised at 8.35pm on the southbound carriageway between junctions 29 and 28.
No one was injured and the crews made sure the vehicles were safe before leaving the scene at 9.15pm.
Police and ambulance crews also attended.
At 10.15am on Sunday crews from Chesterfield and Alfreton attended a car fire on the same stretch of the M1.
The fire, which involved a fire in the engine compartment, was out on arrival and crews only inspected the vehicle.
