A CODNOR couple has celebrated a milestone in their marriage.
George and Diana Eyre, of Stirland Street, have this month been wed for 65 years, marking their blue sapphire anniversary.
Living all their married life in Codnor, the couple first met in Aberdeen at a music hall during World War Two while George was training as a wireless telegraphist in the Navy. Diana Eyre, nee McKenzie, 85, worked as a baker in Aberdeen before their marriage. The Codnor pair have two sons, two daughters, five grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.
“It’s about give and take,” said former Ripley and Heanor News photographer and Ripley Tuesday Club member George, 87, “We row like anyone else but after I give her a kiss and we make up.”
