MORE THAN 40 campaigners turned out in cold rainy conditions to take part in a protest organised by the mystery Love Heanor group to show their support for the struggling town.
They congregated on the Market Place – all wearing something red – to support the fight to help the town centre. There were also songs in a bid to stay warm in the cold temperatures.
The group also took along heart-shaped balloons and posters. There was even heart-shaped cakes topped with red icing. Pictures and videos of the group were taken from the top of nearby St Lawrence’s Church.
Heanor town centre has been struggling, with shops closing, including the large Co-op store, but traders and residents have been determined to help improve the town’s flagging fortunes.
