Loom bands help business bloom

Tucked away in a small corner of Ripley is something that would make any child’s dreams come true — a warehouse full of almost every toy imaginable.

From Barbies to boys’ toys, A.B. Gee’s has it all inside the company’s new 72,000 sq ft head office and distribution Centre based at Asher Lane Business Park.

And they are now at the cutting edge of the latest craze sweeping the nation.

For the industry-renowned toy and model distributor recently made the momentous announcement that it hadbeen named the UK’s exclusive distributor of worldwide sensation the official and 
original Rainbow Loom Bands.

The simple bracelet-making system using small rubber bands, which was invented by a Malaysian father of two from Michigan, USA, has taken the world by storm.

On the back of its successes, A.B.Gee is expected to see an upturn in sales of up to £4 million, which will help to create a small handful of new jobs at the firm to add to its 45 current staff members.

The Ripley firm 
already has several lucrative 
contracts with big-name stores and sites such as WH Smith, The Range, Superdrug, the Co-op and Amazon, distributing toys from industry giants such as Mattel, Hasbro and Hornby.

Steven continued: “Amazingly, even though it’s only August, we’re already getting ready for the busy Christmas period right now and the warehouse is filling up quickly.

“We’ve had orders from all over the country, be it one of the thousands of small independent stores we deal with or one of the big retail giants.

“We’re certainly expecting the Loom Band to stick around and be the number one toy this Christmas and we’re incredibly proud to play a big part in the Loom Band’s 
success here in the UK.”
