The dreams of an asipiring dancer have come true as he is set to star in a top stage show.
In Billy Elliot-style Jacob Thompson will tread the boards, making his debut in classic ballet production The Nutcracker.
The up-and-coming star was selected at an audition in March, from more than 250 young hopefuls.
Jacob, a member of Ripley’s JL Dance Academy, of Whiteley Road, started dancing at just six years old.
The 12-year-old said: “I can’t remember why I started – I think it was my mum’s idea. Being a male dancer is quite hard but it’s interesting, and I get to do different things to the girls. I am looking forward to the experience I will gain, as I want to be a dancer when I’m older.”
Jacob, a student at Swanwick Hall School, will star alongside dancers from the English Youth Ballet in three performances at The Theatre Royal, Nottingham.
Mum Rebecca Thompson of Windsor Close, said she was proud of her son’s success.
She said: “We couldn’t be happier and can’t wait to see him in action.”
The shows are as follows: Friday, July 25, at 7.30pm and Saturday, July 26, at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.
