Villagers in Waingroves proved an ancient tradition is still alive and well after more than 100 folk took part in the yearly ‘wassailing’ festival.

The occasion saw revellers head through the community woodland to ‘wake up’ the trees with drums, singing and storytelling. Chairman of the Waingroves Community Woodland Trust John Stamp said, “Its a real family event, we had well over a hundred people in the afternoon making lanterns and musical instruments and sitting having a drink and chatting . Then again over 100 turned up to process up through the woodland in the dark and listen to our story teller Sophie and her spooky stories.”
