Watch out for stolen phones

Detectives investigating a raid at a warehouse in Alfreton in which 1,500 mobile phones were stolen are urging the public to be vigilant to people selling handsets locally.

The break-in happened at premises on Turnpike Business Park between 9pm on Saturday February 23, and the early hours of Sunday February 24.

More than 1,500 phones were stolen including iPhone 5 and 4S, Samsung Galaxy S3, Blackberry and HTC Desire handsets.

Police are asking anyone in the area who is offered a phone they believe to be stolen or knows of someone suspicious selling mobile phones to contact them. Officers are also appealing to witnesses to the break-in or anyone who saw a white panel van being driven in the area during that evening.

Call Amber Valley CID on 101 or alternatively ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
