VIDEO: Flipping good fun at pancake race

Dozens of youngsters with pans in hand raced down a Stanton-by-Dale hill this weekend for the annual village pancake race.

The tradition stretching back 20 years was celebrated in style as 12 teams of four donned fancy dress at the Stanton Hall nursing home grounds.

Organiser and church warden Ralph Homer said it was ‘great fun’.

“Afterwards we went to the Old School in the village and had pancakes,” he said.

“And all the children went into the nursing home to show off their fancy dress to the residents, which was a lovely touch.

“We really appreciate them giving us the use of their grounds every year.”

The races differ in length depending on the age of the children, with the oldest running the full length of the drive up to the hall.
