Tributes to our ‘fun-loving’ girl
The family and work colleagues of Jade Riley-Ward, who was murdered in Somercotes, have paid tributes after her funeral last Thursday.
Jade’s family said in a statement: “Jade was a lovely, fun loving girl. She loved people and saw the good side in everyone she met. She was exceptionally hard working and had planned to embark on an accountancy course which was due to start in the weeks following her death; she had a great future. To lose her in such a tragic and sudden manner is hard to bear, she will be greatly missed by her close family and her many friends.”
Jade, 30, worked as an administrator at Four04 Packaging, in Hall Farm Way, Smalley, where managing director Sean Coxon said: “Jade was hard working, fun loving and friendly, and she will be very sadly missed. We closed our offices on the day of her funeral as a mark of respect and everyone from the company attended, as well as many suppliers and customers associated with the business. This reflects the strength of feeling for Jade among her colleagues, friends and business acquaintances.”
A post-mortem reported that she had died from multiple stab wounds. Cornelius Brown, 22, of Greenhill Lane, Riddings, is accused of murdering Jade. A trial has been set for March 18.
