Members of the school council celebrate their new woodland area.

Youngsters at Lons Infants School in Ripley look thrilled to be in the newly renovated woodland area there. Vice-chair of the school’s board of governors Stuart Joynes, said the woodland off Tavistock Avenue had become a hotspot for underage drinking and fly tipping two years ago. He said: “Now after a huge amount of work and effort by staff we have a safe and secure wildlife haven.”

The school is to host an information day for anyone interested in starting a ‘forest school’ on March 6, from 4 until 5.30pm.
