A Denby family were recently shown the true meaning of generosity when their friends and family turned out in their hundreds to help raise money for a blood cancer charity.

Viv and Graham Middleton and their family had their world turned upside down when Graham was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2010.

After three years of ups and downs following chemotherapy Graham’s health has improved and the family decided they wanted to give back by helping to raise money for
Leukaemia and Lymphoma
Research, a charity close to the family’s hearts.

They came up with the idea of holding a 24-hour relay walk through Derbyshire stretching a tiring 53 miles.

When it came to take part in the marathon walk two weeks ago on Saturday, July 26, the whole family were
absolutely taken aback by the kindness and generosity of their friends and family.

“It was a fantastic day, made all the better by the fact so many people turned up and helped raise money.

“The whole thing snowballed thanks to the power of social media, we were initially expecting around 20 walkers, in the end there was over 100 people.

“That day we really did discover that we’ve got some absolutely fantastic friends and family.

“We were absolutely stunned and humbled by the whole experience.”

The event has raised in excess of £4,000 so far for the
blood cancer charity.
