Sun blesses postponed carnival

Waiting for Video...

Horsley Woodhouse Carnival organiser Derek Durose declared Saturday’s show ‘a marvellous day.’

“We couldn’t have asked for better weather at any time of year - never mind the end of September,” he said. “It was absolutely glorious.”

The carnival had been due to go ahead in July - but was postponed by the illness of the canival’s long-time organiser Eric Lancashire MBE and by inclement weather.

Derek said: “We had to alter all sorts of bookings but I think we pulled it off all right in the end. Eric turned up and did the commentary.

“I was well pleased with the equestrian display and the Harlequin Dancers performed- they were lovely - really good.”
