Skate park for Heanor?
a NEW skate park could be on the slate for Heanor after a recent meeting.
The Heanor Me&U Interagency Forum, which consists of representatives from groups like Smalley Neighbourhood Watch and the Heanor and District Historical Society, met on February 1 and agreed that a skate park would be a “good idea” for the town.
The entrance to Shipley Park was mooted as a possible location after a presentation by Mundy Junior School children. The group estimated construction costs would be significantly higher than the £25,000 fund they have available, and decided to approach local businesses for additiional cash and materials.
It was agreed that local groups should be involved in discussions “as part of the planning process to ensure no barriers are experienced when the final planning applications are submitted.”
The Forum meets on March 1.
