Local tradespeople are being invited to an event showcasing opportunities for their businesses during the building of two multi-million pound community care centres.
The `Meet the Buyer’ event is being held on Wednesday, September 4, at The Whitworth Centre on Station Road in Darley Dale between 8am and 6pm and local tradespeople are being invited to drop in and find out more.
Work is due to start shortly on the two £8 million Derbyshire County Council community care centres – one in Market Place, Heanor and the other adjacent to the Whitworth Hospital in Darley Dale, near Matlock.
The two community care centres, being built for the county council by Mansell Construction Services Limited, and traders will be asked to submit `expressions of interest’ in the work they would like to be considered for and all bids will go through a tender process.
A wide range of construction jobs are available on both sites for companies of all sizes, from joinery, steelwork, tiling, windows and doors to landscaping, fencing, cladding, plumbing, security grilles and shutters.
Derbyshire county councillor Paul Jones said: “The new community care centres are major construction projects and offer a real opportunity for local tradespeople, no matter how large or small their businesses are. We are committed to using local labour and are particularly keen to hear from businesses that are offering work experience and apprenticeship opportunities. “I will be going to the Meet the Buyer event myself and hope local businesses will seize the opportunity to be a part of these exciting projects.”
More information is available at www.sourcederbyshire.co.uk/contracts/show/id/8856 and no appointment is necessary.
It is hoped the Heanor site will open in January 2015.
