School pupils get top marks
Pupils in Derbyshire are outperforming schools throughout the country in national tests.
Provisional figures released by the Government show attainment is better in all subjects at all levels in tests for 11-year-olds.
Derbyshire schools have seen an increase in all subjects at Key Stage 2 in the expected levels.
And they are among the top performing authorities in all subjects in higher levels of attainment.
The county council has welcomed the news, which continues the significant improvements in standards notched up by Derbyshire’s schools.
Cllr Mike Longden said: “This is excellent news and I’m sure parents will be pleased to hear that the quality of education offered in Derbyshire continues to improve.
“We keep getting better and better results and these on-going improvements are set to continue as we focus on raising standards even higher.
“These results have not happened by chance. They are reward for hard work and planning and I would like to congratulate staff, pupils, parents and governors for their tremendous efforts.”
