Safety success for local firms

Businesses from Amber Valley have registered success in the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards.

Eight businesses from the region picked up awards at the ceremony held at the Hilton Metropole, Birmingham last month.

The RoSPA (The Royal 
Society for the Prevention of 
Accidents) Safety Awards are internationally recognised and have fast become the most sought after accolade by organisations from every sector.

The awards ceremony is considered one of the key fixture in the health and safety calendar and offers organisations a prime opportunity to prove their ongoing commitment to raising health and safety standards and to be a part of the longest running and most highly respected occupational safety awards programme.

The eight Amber Valley based businesses that picked up awards at the ceremony were NFT Distribution Operations Ltd (Somercotes), NHS Supply Chain (Alfreton), HW Martin Group of Companies Traffic Management (Alfreton), DHL NHS Supply Cahin (Alfreton) and Norbert Dentressangle (Heanor).

Belper based award 
winners enjoyed some of the best success for the area with 
Keyclad Ltd winning a 
president’s award (12 consecutive gold awards), Perevil Homes Limited (9 consecutive gold awards) and Bowmer & 
Kirkland Limited who picked up a gold award.

The successful Amber Valley business are in good 
company as they received awards alongside top Derbyshire firms such as Rolls Royce (Aerospace, Submarines and Rotative departments) and fellow motor manufacturing giants Toyota.

Tom Mullarkey, RoSPA’s chief executive, said: “The achievements of RoSPA award winners raise the bar for health and safety management, many other organisations will be taking note and following their lead”.
