Roofing danger

Firefighters were called out twice on Saturday to tackle dangerous roofing in Ripley and Somercotes.

At 12.45pm, corrugated roofing was seen hanging from the Butterley works building on Butterley Hill, Ripley. The road was closed and a high rise ladder platform from Kingsway to remove the loose roof sheeting. At 2.10pm the scene was made safe.

At 2pm dangerous roofing was reported on top of Walkers Bingo Hall, on Victoria Street, in Somercotes.

The high rise ladder platform was used again to remove sheeting from the second story roof. The road had to be closed by the police and was reopened at 3.50pm.
