Reader’s Letter: Free TV licence for the over 75s

TV licence offer for over 75s

TV licence offer for over 75s

With the New Year fast approaching, TV Licensing is reminding people over 75 in Heanor to take advantage of their entitlement to a free TV Licence.

There are currently almost four million free TV Licences in force across the UK, including more than 1,100 in Heanor. However, more people, including those living with someone aged over 75, are eligible for the concession which will cover TV viewing on all equipment at the property.

Applying for a free licence is easy and, once you have done so, TV Licensing will renew your licence automatically on an annual basis for three years, cutting down on excess paperwork.

However, it’s not granted automatically so those who are eligible need to make sure they remember to apply and get in touch with TV Licensing directly. You can do so online at www.tvlicensing.co.uk/over75 or by calling 0300 790 6073.

With many older people living on low incomes, the free over 75 licence is a valuable concession which offers them the chance to have more money to put towards other bills. Almost four million people across the UK already enjoy the benefits of the concession – we’d encourage people to make it a New Year resolution not to miss out.

Mike Whitehouse, TV Licensing
