Rain causes closure of many roads
Heavy rainfall saw in the closure of many roads in Amber Valley this week, including the A610 Woodlinkin bypass at Codnor.
An emergency team, including police and staff from Derbyshire County Council were forced to close the road at around 11.45am on Tuesday due to the large amount of water on the carriageway after a night of rain.
A police spokesperson confirmed road blocks were put up and the bypass was closed because of flooding.
At its highest level the water was three feet deep with the worst hit spot being outside the Ormonde Golf Club.
Derbyshire County Council had workers on site throughout the day to deal with the problem.Selston Road in Jacksdale was also closed due to a nearby river overflowing.
Council workers were sent out to try and ease the problem, which was made worse by drains being blocked by leaves.
Alfreton Town Football Club's pitch was also waterlogged meaning Tuesday night's match FA Trophy second round replay against Leeds side Farsley Celtic had to be cancelled.
Despite the weather causing problems Amber Valley managed to avoid scenes like last year when Jacksale and Waingroves were hit with a month's worth of rainfall in just 24 hours.
