The main swimming pool at Alfreton Leisure Centre will be closed for more than a month for essential maintenance work.
An investigation will also be carried out as the pool only opened in 2009.
Work will start on Monday, September 8, until late November.
The works are to the pool tiling on the base of the main swimming pool said a spokeswoman.
Throughout the work, the teaching/splash pool will be open as normal, and the timetabled sessions and lessons, normally in the teaching pool, will not be affected.
General manager Peter Sharkey said every thing was being done to minimise disruption to customers.
Amber Valley councillor Tony Holmes said: “We are obviously disappointed that the pool has to close for these essential repairs, particularly as it only opened in 2009 and is so well used by the public.
“The centre was built through a Private Finance Initiative and it is critical that the matter is fully investigated and repaired to ensure it remains in top condition for future generations.”
