Voters are due to go to the polls on Thursday, January 30, as parties contest the Heanor East by-election.
Labour councillor Phil Hill vacated the post in December to concentrate on his work commitments. The Heanor East ward covers the Marlpool and Langley area. Hoping to win the seat are three candidates. For Labour, Sheila Oakes; for Conservative Steven Grainger and for the Liberal Democrats, Kate Smith. Polling stations will be open between 9am and 5pm at the community church hall on Breach Road, Marlpool, the parish church at Ilkeston Road, Marlpool and the community centre at Ropewalk.
