Police hunt street robber

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 16-year-old boy was robbed as he walked through Heanor.

At around 7.30pm on Monday, September 3 the teenager was walking down a path to the side of the Memorial Park towards the leisure centre when he was approached by a man.

The man jumped out in front of him, grabbed his coat and demanded money from the victim.

The man then reached into the victim’s pocket and took his wallet and stole money out of it.

A couple who were nearby saw what was happening and shouted over and the offender ran off in the direction of the leisure centre.

The victim was able to give police a description of the man who robbed him.

The offender was black, in his 30s, around six feet tall, of stocky build with a bald head.

He was wearing a plain white short sleeved polo shirt and dark blue jeans.

Police would like to speak to anyone who was in the area and witnessed the incident or has any information about the offender.

You can contact Amber Valley CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
