‘Petrol bomb’ incident in Heanor is investigated by police

POLICE are investigating after it was reported that what appeared to be a petrol bomb was thrown at a house in Heanor.

Emergency services went to an address in Fletcher Street at 1am today, Sunday, May 13.

Police and fire crews were called to the house after two people were seen to throw what is believed to be a petrol bomb at the door.

There was no-one inside the address at the time and there was no internal damage caused to the house. The fire had been put out by the time the fire service arrived, said a police spokesman.

A joint investigation between police and the fire service is now under way.

Derbyshire police had said there is no link between this incident and the fire at Victory Road, Derby, in which five children died and another was seriously injured on Friday, May 11.

Anyone with information is asked to call Derbyshire police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
