To add a little more variety to the gym, the town council contributed a further £1,500 to add a cycle.

A total of six pieces of equipment are suitable for adults of any ability and are free of charge to use.

Amber Valley Borough Council’s portfolio holder for the environment, Councillor David Wilson said: “This project shows how working together we can make improvements for local residents. Amber Valley Borough Council is committed to improving our parks and open spaces.

“This is a great way of improving people’s health at the same time as boosting the local area – it is a win-win situation.”

The gym can be used for a quick session on the way to the shops or while walking the dog, or for a full workout.
